Employment

To work in a Yukon school, you must apply through the Yukon Department of Education website. 

Yukon Catholic Schools provide public education in a Catholic environment based on Gospel values and the tradition of the Catholic Church. There are three Catholic schools -- two elementary and one secondary.

Note that in order to teach in a Catholic School, there is an additional screening process.

Preference for teaching positions in Catholic schools will be given to practicing Catholics with a commitment to excellence in Catholic education.

The Catholic Diocese of Whitehorse approves this preference based on review of the following documents:

• Teacher Faith letter , completed by the candidate
• Pastoral reference , completed by a Roman Catholic pastor
• Baptismal certificate, provided by the candidate
• All documents must be dated within the past six months and must be submitted to Human Resource Services.

Once the Diocese sends approval, these documents will remain on file for six months. During that time, you will be identified as a Catholic candidate.
